2. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery.

|
|
3. Do not have other gods besides Me.
|
3. Thou shalt have H1961 no H3808 other H312 gods H430 before H5921 H6440 me.
|
|
4. Do not make an idol for yourself, whether in the shape of anything in the heavens above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth.
|
4. Thou shalt not H3808 make H6213 unto thee any graven image H6459 , or any H3605 likeness H8544 of any thing that H834 is in heaven H8064 above H4480 H4605 , or that H834 is in the earth H776 beneath H4480 H8478 , or that H834 is in the water H4325 under H4480 H8478 the earth H776 :

5. You must not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the fathers' sin, to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
|
5. Thou shalt not H3808 bow down thyself H7812 to them, nor H3808 serve H5647 them: for H3588 I H595 the LORD H3068 thy God H430 am a jealous H7067 God H410 , visiting H6485 the iniquity H5771 of the fathers H1 upon H5921 the children H1121 unto H5921 the third H8029 and fourth H7256 generation of them that hate H8130 me;

6. but showing faithful love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commands.
|
6. And showing H6213 mercy H2617 unto thousands H505 of them that love H157 me , and keep H8104 my commandments H4687 .
|
|
7. Do not misuse the name of the LORD your God, becauswhite, and tasted like wafers mo misuses His name.
|
7. Thou shalt not H3808 take H5375 H853 the name H8034 of the LORD H3068 thy God H430 in vain H7723 ; for H3588 the LORD H3068 will not H3808 hold him guiltless H5352 H853 that H834 taketh H5375 H853 his name H8034 in vain H7723 .

|
8. Remember to dedicate the Sabbath day:
|
8. Remember H2142 the H853 sabbath H7676 day H3117 , to keep it holy H6942 .
|
|
9. You are to labor six days and do all your work,
|
9. Six H8337 days H3117 shalt thou labor H5647 , and do H6213 all H3605 thy work H4399 :
|
|
10. but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. You must not do any work-- you, your son or daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the foreigner who is within your gates.
|
10. But the seventh H7637 day H3117 is the sabbath H7676 of the LORD H3068 thy God H430 : in it thou shalt not H3808 do H6213 any H3605 work H4399 , thou H859 , nor thy son H1121 , nor thy daughter H1323 , thy manservant H5650 , nor thy maidservant H519 , nor thy cattle H929 , nor thy stranger H1616 that H834 is within thy gates H8179 :

11. For the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and everything in them in six days; then He rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and declared it holy.

12. Honor your father and your mother so that you may have a long life in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.

13. Do not murder.
|
13. Thou shalt not H3808 kill H7523 .
|
|
14. Do not commit adultery.
|
14. Thou shalt not H3808 commit adultery H5003 .
|
|
15. Do not steal.
|
15. Thou shalt not H3808 steal H1589 .
|
|
16. Do not give false testimony against your neighbor.
|
16. Thou shalt not H3808 bear H6030 false H8267 witness H5707 against thy neighbor H7453 .
|
|
17. Do not covet your neighbor's house. Do not covet your neighbor's wife, his male or female slave, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
|
17. Thou shalt not H3808 covet H2530 thy neighbor H7453 's house H1004 , thou shalt not H3808 covet H2530 thy neighbor H7453 's wife H802 , nor his manservant H5650 , nor his maidservant H519 , nor his ox H7794 , nor his ass H2543 , nor any thing H3605 that H834 is thy neighbor H7453 's.

18. All the people witnessed the thunder and lightning, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain surrounded by smoke. When the people saw it they trembled and stood at a distance.
|
18. And all H3605 the people H5971 saw H7200 H853 the thunderings H6963 , and the lightnings H3940 , and the noise H6963 of the trumpet H7782 , and the mountain H2022 smoking H6226 : and when the people H5971 saw H7200 it , they removed H5128 , and stood H5975 afar off H4480 H7350 .

19. "You speak to us, and we will listen," they said to Moses, "but don't let God speak to us, or we will die."
|
19. And they said H559 unto H413 Moses H4872 , Speak H1696 thou H859 with H5973 us , and we will hear H8085 : but let not H408 God H430 speak H1696 with H5973 us, lest H6435 we die H4191 .

20. Moses responded to the people, "Don't be afraid, for God has come to test you, so that you will fear Him and will not sin."

20. And Moses H4872 said H559 unto H413 the people H5971 , Fear H3372 not H408 : for H3588 God H430 is come H935 to H5668 prove H5254 you , and that H5668 his fear H3374 may be H1961 before H5921 your faces H6440 , that ye sin H2398 not H1115 .

21. And the people remained standing at a distance as Moses approached the thick darkness where God was.
|
21. And the people H5971 stood H5975 afar off H4480 H7350 , and Moses H4872 drew near H5066 unto H413 the thick darkness H6205 where H834 H8033 God H430 was .

22. Then the LORD told Moses, "This is what you are to say to the Israelites: You have seen that I have spoken to you from heaven.
|
22. And the LORD H3068 said H559 unto H413 Moses H4872 , Thus H3541 thou shalt say H559 unto H413 the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , Ye H859 have seen H7200 that H3588 I have talked H1696 with H5973 you from H4480 heaven H8064 .

23. You must not make gods of silver to rival Me; you must not make gods of gold for yourselves.
|
23. Ye shall not H3808 make H6213 with H854 me gods H430 of silver H3701 , neither H3808 shall ye make H6213 unto you gods H430 of gold H2091 .
|
|
24. "You must make an earthen altar for Me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, your sheep and goats, as well as your cattle. I will come to you and bless you in every place where I cause My name to be remembered.
|
24. An altar H4196 of earth H127 thou shalt make H6213 unto me , and shalt sacrifice H2076 thereon H5921 H853 thy burnt offerings H5930 , and thy peace offerings H8002 , H853 thy sheep H6629 , and thine oxen H1241 : in all H3605 places H4725 where H834 I record H2142 H853 my name H8034 I will come H935 unto H413 thee , and I will bless H1288 thee.

25. If you make a stone altar for Me, you must not build it out of cut stones. If you use your chisel on it, you will defile it.
|
25. And if H518 thou wilt make H6213 me an altar H4196 of stone H68 , thou shalt not H3808 build H1129 it of hewn stone H1496 : for H3588 if thou lift up H5130 thy tool H2719 upon H5921 it , thou hast polluted H2490 it.

|
26. You must not go up to My altar on steps, so that your nakedness is not exposed on it.
|
26. Neither H3808 shalt thou go up H5927 by steps H4609 unto H5921 mine altar H4196 , that H834 thy nakedness H6172 be not H3808 discovered H1540 thereon H5921 .
