3. who acted like prostitutes in Egypt, behaving promiscuously in their youth. Their breasts were fondled there, and their virgin nipples caressed.

3. And they committed whoredoms H2181 in Egypt H4714 ; they committed whoredoms H2181 in their youth H5271 : there H8033 were their breasts H7699 pressed H4600 , and there H8033 they bruised H6213 the teats H1717 of their virginity H1331 .

4. The older one was named Oholah, and her sister was Oholibah. They became Mine and gave birth to sons and daughters. As for their names, Oholah represents Samaria and Oholibah represents Jerusalem.

16. At the sight of them she lusted after them and sent messengers to them in Chaldea.

21. So you revisited the indecency of your youth, when the Egyptians caressed your nipples to enjoy your youthful breasts.

22. "Therefore Oholibah, this is what the Lord God says: I am going to incite your lovers against you, those you turned away from in disgust. I will bring them against you from every side:

24. They will come against you with an alliance of nations and with weapons, chariots, and wagons. They will set themselves against you on every side with shields, bucklers, and helmets. I will delegate judgment to them, and they will judge you by their own standards.

25. When I vent My jealous rage on you, they will deal with you in wrath. They will cut off your nose and ears, and your descendants will fall by the sword. They will seize your sons and daughters, and your descendants will be consumed by fire.

26. They will strip off your clothes and take your beautiful jewelry.

27. So I will put an end to your indecency and sexual immorality, which began in the land of Egypt, and you will not look longingly at them or remember Egypt any more.

28. "For this is what the Lord God says: I am going to hand you over to those you hate, to those you turned away from in disgust.

29. They will treat you with hatred, take all you have worked for, and leave you stark naked, so that the shame of your debauchery will be exposed, both your indecency and promiscuity.

29. And they shall deal H6213 with H854 thee hatefully H8135 , and shall take away H3947 all H3605 thy labor H3018 , and shall leave H5800 thee naked H5903 and bare H6181 : and the nakedness H6172 of thy whoredoms H2183 shall be discovered H1540 , both thy lewdness H2154 and thy whoredoms H8457 .

30. These things will be done to you because you acted like a prostitute with the nations, defiling yourself with their idols.
|
30. I will do H6213 these H428 things unto thee , because thou hast gone a whoring H2181 after H310 the heathen H1471 , and because H5921 H834 thou art polluted H2930 with their idols H1544 .
|
|
31. You have followed the path of your sister, so I will put her cup in your hand."
|
31. Thou hast walked H1980 in the way H1870 of thy sister H269 ; therefore will I give H5414 her cup H3563 into thine hand H3027 .
|
|
32. This is what the Lord God says: You will drink your sister's cup, which is deep and wide. You will be an object of ridicule and scorn, for it holds so much.
|
32. Thus H3541 saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD H3069 ; Thou shalt drink H8354 of thy sister H269 's cup H3563 deep H6013 and large H7342 : thou shalt be H1961 laughed to scorn H6712 and had in derision H3933 ; it containeth H3557 much H4767 .

33. You will be filled with drunkenness and grief, with a cup of devastation and desolation, the cup of your sister Samaria.
|

34. You will drink it and drain it; then you will gnaw its broken pieces, and tear your breasts. For I have spoken. This is the declaration of the Lord God.

35. Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: "Because you have forgotten Me and cast Me behind your back, you must bear the consequences of your indecency and promiscuity."

35. Therefore H3651 thus H3541 saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD H3069 ; Because H3282 thou hast forgotten H7911 me , and cast H7993 me behind H310 thy back H1458 , therefore bear H5375 thou H859 also H1571 thy lewdness H2154 and thy whoredoms H8457 .

36. Then the LORD said to me: "Son of man, will you pass judgment against Oholah and Oholibah? Then declare their abominations to them.
|
36. The LORD H3068 said H559 moreover unto H413 me; Son H1121 of man H120 , wilt thou judge H8199 H853 Aholah H170 and Aholibah H172 ? yea, declare H5046 unto them H853 their abominations H8441 ;
|
|
37. For they have committed adultery, and blood is on their hands; they have committed adultery with their idols. They have even made the children they bore to Me pass through the fire as food for the idols.
|
37. That H3588 they have committed adultery H5003 , and blood H1818 is in their hands H3027 , and with H854 their idols H1544 have they committed adultery H5003 , and have also H1571 caused H853 their sons H1121 , whom H834 they bore H3205 unto me , to pass for them through H5674 the fire , to devour H402 them .

38. They also did this to Me: they defiled My sanctuary on that same day and profaned My Sabbaths.
|
38. Moreover H5750 this H2063 they have done H6213 unto me : they have defiled H2930 H853 my sanctuary H4720 in the same H1931 day H3117 , and have profaned H2490 my sabbaths H7676 .
|
|
39. On the same day they slaughtered their children for their idols, they entered My sanctuary to profane it. Yes, that is what they did inside My house.
|
39. For when they had slain H7819 H853 their children H1121 to their idols H1544 , then they came H935 the same H1931 day H3117 into H413 my sanctuary H4720 to profane H2490 it; and, lo H2009 , thus H3541 have they done H6213 in the midst H8432 of mine house H1004 .
|
|
40. "In addition, they sent for men who came from far away when a messenger was dispatched to them. And look how they came! You bathed, painted your eyes, and adorned yourself with jewelry for them.
|
40. And furthermore H637 , that H3588 ye have sent H7971 for men H376 to come H935 from far H4480 H4801 , unto H413 whom H834 a messenger H4397 was sent H7971 ; and, lo H2009 , they came H935 : for whom H834 thou didst wash H7364 thyself, paintedst H3583 thy eyes H5869 , and deckedst H5710 thyself with ornaments H5716 ,

41. You sat on a luxurious couch with a table spread before it, on which you had set My incense and oil.
|
41. And satest H3427 upon H5921 a stately H3520 bed H4296 , and a table H7979 prepared H6186 before H6440 it, whereupon H5921 thou hast set H7760 mine incense H7004 and mine oil H8081 .
|
|
42. The sound of a carefree crowd was there. Drunkards from the desert were brought in, along with common men. They put bracelets on the women's hands and beautiful crowns on their heads.
|
42. And a voice H6963 of a multitude H1995 being at ease H7961 was with her : and with H413 the men H376 of the common sort H4480 H7230 H120 were brought H935 Sabeans H5436 from the wilderness H4480 H4057 , which put H5414 bracelets H6781 upon H5921 their hands H3027 , and beautiful H8597 crowns H5850 upon H413 their heads H7218 .

43. Then I said concerning this woman worn out by adultery: Will they now have illicit sex with her, even her?
|
43. Then said H559 I unto her that was old H1087 in adulteries H5004 , Will they now H6258 commit H2181 whoredoms H8457 with her , and she H1931 with them ?
|
|
44. Yet they had sex with her as one does with a prostitute. This is how they had sex with Oholah and Oholibah, those obscene women.
|
44. Yet they went in H935 unto H413 her , as they go in H935 unto H413 a woman H802 that playeth the harlot H2181 : so H3651 went they in H935 unto H413 Aholah H170 and unto H413 Aholibah H172 , the lewd H2154 women H802 .
|
|
45. But righteous men will judge them the way adulteresses and those who shed blood are judged, for they are adulteresses and blood is on their hands.
|
45. And the righteous H6662 men H376 , they H1992 shall judge H8199 them after the manner H4941 of adulteresses H5003 , and after the manner of women H4941 that shed H8210 blood H1818 ; because H3588 they H2007 are adulteresses H5003 , and blood H1818 is in their hands H3027 .

46. "This is what the Lord God says: Summon an assembly against them and consign them to terror and plunder.
|
46. For H3588 thus H3541 saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD H3069 ; I will bring up H5927 a company H6951 upon H5921 them , and will give H5414 them to be removed H2189 and spoiled H957 .

|
47. The assembly will stone them and cut them down with their swords. They will kill their sons and daughters and burn their houses with fire.
|
47. And the company H6951 shall stone H7275 H5921 them with stones H68 , and dispatch H1254 them with their swords H2719 ; they shall slay H2026 their sons H1121 and their daughters H1323 , and burn up H8313 their houses H1004 with fire H784 .
|
|
48. So I will put an end to indecency in the land, and all the women will be admonished not to imitate your indecent behavior.
|
48. Thus will I cause lewdness H2154 to cease H7673 out of H4480 the land H776 , that all H3605 women H802 may be taught H3256 not H3808 to do H6213 after your lewdness H2154 .
|
|
49. They will repay you for your indecency, and you will bear the consequences for your sins of idolatry. Then you will know that I am the Lord God."

49. And they shall recompense H5414 your lewdness H2154 upon H5921 you , and ye shall bear H5375 the sins H2399 of your idols H1544 : and ye shall know H3045 that H3588 I H589 am the Lord H136 GOD H3069 .
