1. An Oracle The word of the LORD concerning Israel. A declaration of the LORD, who stretched out the heavens, laid the foundation of the earth, and formed the spirit of man within him.

1. The burden H4853 of the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 for H5921 Israel H3478 , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 , which stretcheth forth H5186 the heavens H8064 , and layeth the foundation H3245 of the earth H776 , and formeth H3335 the spirit H7307 of man H120 within H7130 him.

2. "Look, I will make Jerusalem a cup that causes staggering for the peoples who surround the city. The siege against Jerusalem will also involve Judah.

2. Behold H2009 , I H595 will make H7760 H853 Jerusalem H3389 a cup H5592 of trembling H7478 unto all H3605 the people H5971 round about H5439 , when they shall be H1961 in the siege H4692 both H1571 against H5921 Judah H3063 and against H5921 Jerusalem H3389 .

3. On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who try to lift it will injure themselves severely when all the nations of the earth gather against her.

And in that H1931 day H3117 will I make H7760 H853 Jerusalem H3389 a burdensome H4614 stone H68 for all H3605 people H5971 : all H3605 that burden H6006 themselves with it shall be cut in pieces H8295 H8295 , though all H3605 the people H1471 of the earth H776 be gathered together H622 against H5921 it.

4. On that day"-- the LORD's declaration-- "I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness. I will keep a watchful eye on the house of Judah but strike all the horses of the nations with blindness.

In that H1931 day H3117 , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 , I will smite H5221 every H3605 horse H5483 with astonishment H8541 , and his rider H7392 with madness H7697 : and I will open H6491 H853 mine eyes H5869 upon H5921 the house H1004 of Judah H3063 , and will smite H5221 every H3605 horse H5483 of the people H5971 with blindness H5788 .

5. Then each of the leaders of Judah will think to himself: The residents of Jerusalem are my strength through the LORD of Hosts, their God.

5. And the governors H441 of Judah H3063 shall say H559 in their heart H3820 , The inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem H3389 shall be my strength H556 in the LORD H3068 of hosts H6635 their God H430 .

6. On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves; they will consume all the peoples around them on the right and the left, while Jerusalem continues to be inhabited on its site, in Jerusalem.

In that H1931 day H3117 will I make H7760 H853 the governors H441 of Judah H3063 like a hearth H3595 of fire H784 among the wood H6086 , and like a torch H3940 of fire H784 in a sheaf H5995 ; and they shall devour H398 H853 all H3605 the people H5971 round about H5439 , on H5921 the right hand H3225 and on H5921 the left H8040 : and Jerusalem H3389 shall be inhabited H3427 again H5750 in her own place H8478 , even in Jerusalem H3389 .

7. The LORD will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of David's house and the glory of Jerusalem's residents may not be greater than that of Judah.

7. The LORD H3068 also shall save H3467 H853 the tents H168 of Judah H3063 first H7223 , that H4616 the glory H8597 of the house H1004 of David H1732 and the glory H8597 of the inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem H3389 do not H3808 magnify H1431 themselves against H5921 Judah H3063 .

8. On that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the one who is weakest among them will be like David on that day, and the house of David will be like God, like the Angel of the LORD, before them.

In that H1931 day H3117 shall the LORD H3068 defend H1598 H1157 the inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem H3389 ; and he that is feeble H3782 among them at that H1931 day H3117 shall be H1961 as David H1732 ; and the house H1004 of David H1732 shall be as God H430 , as the angel H4397 of the LORD H3068 before H6440 them.

9. On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
|
9. And it shall come to pass H1961 in that H1931 day H3117 , that I will seek H1245 to destroy H8045 H853 all H3605 the nations H1471 that come H935 against H5921 Jerusalem H3389 .

|
10. "Then I will pour out a spiritof grace and prayer on the house of David and the residents of Jerusalem, and they will look at Me whom they pierced. They will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child and weep bitterly for Him as one weeps for a firstborn.
|
10. And I will pour H8210 upon H5921 the house H1004 of David H1732 , and upon H5921 the inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem H3389 , the spirit H7307 of grace H2580 and of supplications H8469 : and they shall look H5027 upon H413 me H853 whom H834 they have pierced H1856 , and they shall mourn H5594 for H5921 him , as one mourneth H4553 for H5921 his only H3173 son , and shall be in bitterness H4843 for H5921 him , as one that is in bitterness H4843 for H5921 his firstborn H1060 .

11. On that day the mourning in Jerusalem will be as great as the mourning of Hadad-rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.

11. In that H1931 day H3117 shall there be a great H1431 mourning H4553 in Jerusalem H3389 , as the mourning H4553 of Hadadrimmon H1910 in the valley H1237 of Megiddon H4023 .

12. The land will mourn, every family by itself: the family of David's house by itself and their women by themselves; the family of Nathan's house by itself and their women by themselves;

12. And the land H776 shall mourn H5594 , every family H4940 H4940 apart H905 ; the family H4940 of the house H1004 of David H1732 apart H905 , and their wives H802 apart H905 ; the family H4940 of the house H1004 of Nathan H5416 apart H905 , and their wives H802 apart H905 ;

13. the family of Levi's house by itself and their women by themselves; the family of Shimei by itself and their women by themselves;

14. all the remaining families, every family by itself, and their women by themselves.
|
