2. Thus saith the Lord God; Because the enemy has said against you, Aha, the old waste places are become a possession for us:
|

3. therefore prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Because ye have been dishonoured, and hated by those round about you, that ye might be a possession to the remainder of the nations, and ye became a by-word, and a reproach to the nations:
|

4. therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord to the mountains, and to the hills, and to the streams, and to the valleys, and to the places that have been made desolate and destroyed, and to the cities that have been deserted, and have become a spoil and a trampling to the nations that were left round about;
|
4. 5. therefore, thus saith the Lord; Verily in the fire of my wrath have I spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all Idumea, because they have appropriated my land to themselves for a possession with joy, Lit. having dishonoured disregarding the lives of the inhabitants, to destroy it by plunder:
|
5. 6. therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains, and to the hills, and to the valleys, and to the forests, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my wrath, because ye have borne the reproaches of the heathen:
|
6. 7. therefore I will lift up my hand against the nations that are round about you; they shall bear their reproach.
|
7. Therefore H3651 thus H3541 saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD H3069 ; I H589 have lifted up H5375 H853 mine hand H3027 , Surely H518 H3808 the heathen H1471 that H834 are about H4480 H5439 you, they H1992 shall bear H5375 their shame H3639 .

8. But your grapes and your fruits, O mountains of Israel, shall my people eat; for they are hoping to come.
|
8. But ye H859 , O mountains H2022 of Israel H3478 , ye shall shoot forth H5414 your branches H6057 , and yield H5375 your fruit H6529 to my people H5971 of Israel H3478 ; for H3588 they are at hand H7126 to come H935 .
|
|
9. For, behold, I am toward you, and I will have respect to you, and ye shall be tilled and sown:
|
9. For H3588 , behold H2009 , I am for H413 you , and I will turn H6437 unto H413 you , and ye shall be tilled H5647 and sown H2232 :
|
|
10. and I will multiply men upon you, even all the house of Israel to the end: and the cities shall be inhabited, and the desolate land shall be built upon.
|
10. And I will multiply H7235 men H120 upon H5921 you, all H3605 the house H1004 of Israel H3478 , even all H3605 of it : and the cities H5892 shall be inhabited H3427 , and the wastes H2723 shall be built H1129 :

|
11. And I will multiply men and cattle upon you; and I will cause you to dwell as at Lit. your beginning the beginning, and will treat you well, as in your former times: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
|
11. And I will multiply H7235 upon H5921 you man H120 and beast H929 ; and they shall increase H7235 and bring fruit H6509 : and I will settle H3427 you after your old estates H6927 , and will do better H3190 unto you than at your beginnings H4480 H7221 : and ye shall know H3045 that H3588 I H589 am the LORD H3068 .

12. And I will increase men upon you, even my people Israel; and they shall inherit you, and ye shall be to them for a possession; and ye shall no more be bereaved of them.
|
12. Yea , I will cause men H120 to walk H1980 upon H5921 you, even H853 my people H5971 Israel H3478 ; and they shall possess H3423 thee , and thou shalt be H1961 their inheritance H5159 , and thou shalt no H3808 more H3254 henceforth H5750 bereave H7921 them of men .

13. Thus saith the Lord God: Because they said to thee, Thou land devourest men, and hast been bereaved of thy nation;
|
13. Thus H3541 saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD H3069 ; Because H3282 they say H559 unto you, Thou H859 land devourest up H398 men H120 , and hast bereaved H1961 H7921 thy nations H1471 ;
|
|
14. therefore thou shalt no more devour men, and thou shalt no more bereave thy nation, saith the Lord God.
|

|
15. And there shall no more be heard against you the reproach of the nations, and ye shall no more bear the revilings of the peoples, saith the Lord God.
|

Neither H3808 will I cause men to hear H8085 in H413 thee the shame H3639 of the heathen H1471 any more H5750 , neither H3808 shalt thou bear H5375 the reproach H2781 of the people H5971 any more H5750 , neither H3808 shalt thou cause thy nations H1471 to fall H3782 any more H5750 , saith H5002 the Lord H136 GOD H3069 .

16. And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
|
16. Moreover the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 came H1961 unto H413 me, saying H559 ,
|
|
17. Son of man, the house of Israel dwelt upon their land, and defiled it by their way, and with their idols, and with their uncleannesses; and their way was before me like the uncleanness of a removed woman.
|
17. Son H1121 of man H120 , when the house H1004 of Israel H3478 dwelt H3427 in H5921 their own land H127 , they defiled H2930 it by their own way H1870 and by their doings H5949 : their way H1870 was H1961 before H6440 me as the uncleanness H2932 of a removed woman H5079 .

18. So I poured out my wrath upon them: Alex. +’for the blood which they shed in the land, and they defiled it with their idols’
|
18. Wherefore I poured H8210 my fury H2534 upon H5921 them for H5921 the blood H1818 that H834 they had shed H8210 upon H5921 the land H776 , and for their idols H1544 wherewith they had polluted H2930 it:
|
|
19. and I dispersed them among the nations, and utterly scattered them through the countries: I judged them according to their way and according to their sin.

19. And I scattered H6327 them among the heathen H1471 , and they were dispersed H2219 through the countries H776 : according to their way H1870 and according to their doings H5949 I judged H8199 them.
|
|
20. And they went in among the nations, among which they went, and they profaned my holy name, while it was said of them, These are the people of the Lord, and they came forth out of his land.
|
20. And when they entered H935 unto H413 the heathen H1471 , whither H834 H8033 they went H935 , they profaned H2490 H853 my holy H6944 name H8034 , when they said H559 to them, These H428 are the people H5971 of the LORD H3068 , and are gone forth H3318 out of his land H4480 H776 .

21. but I spared them for the sake of my holy name, which the house of Israel profaned among the nations, among whom they went.
|
21. But I had pity H2550 for H5921 mine holy H6944 name H8034 , which H834 the house H1004 of Israel H3478 had profaned H2490 among the heathen H1471 , whither H834 H8033 they went H935 .
|
|
22. Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord; I do not this, O house of Israel, Lit. for, or, to you for your sakes, but because of my holy name, which ye have profaned among the nations, among whom ye went.
|
22. Therefore H3651 say H559 unto the house H1004 of Israel H3478 , Thus H3541 saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD H3069 ; I H589 do H6213 not H3808 this for your sakes H4616 , O house H1004 of Israel H3478 , but H3588 H518 for mine holy H6944 name H8034 's sake, which H834 ye have profaned H2490 among the heathen H1471 , whither H834 H8033 ye went H935 .

23. And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the nations, which ye profaned in the midst of them; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord, when I am sanctified among you before their eyes.
|
23. 24. And I will take you out from the nations, and will gather you out of all the lands, and will bring you into your own land:
|
24. For I will take H3947 you from among H4480 the heathen H1471 , and gather H6908 you out of all H4480 H3605 countries H776 , and will bring H935 you into H413 your own land H127 .
|
|
25. and I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be purged from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols, and I will cleanse you.
|
25. Then will I sprinkle H2236 clean H2889 water H4325 upon H5921 you , and ye shall be clean H2891 : from all H4480 H3605 your filthiness H2932 , and from all H4480 H3605 your idols H1544 , will I cleanse H2891 you.

|
26. And I will give you a new heart, and will put a new spirit in you: and I will take away the heart of stone out of your flesh, and will give you a heart of flesh.
|

27. And I will put my Spirit in you, and will cause you to walk in mine ordinances, and to keep my judgements, and do them.
|

|
|
28. And ye shall dwell upon the land which I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be to me a people, and I will be to you a God.
|

|
29. And I will save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and multiply it, and will not bring famine upon you.

|
30. And I will multiply the fruit of the trees, and the produce of the field, that ye may not bear the reproach of famine among the nations.
|

|
31. And ye shall remember your evil ways and your practices that were not good, and ye shall be hateful in your own sight for your transgressions and for Alex. umwn your abominations.
|
31. Then shall ye remember H2142 H853 your own evil H7451 ways H1870 , and your doings H4611 that H834 were not H3808 good H2896 , and shall loathe yourselves H6962 in your own sight H6440 for H5921 your iniquities H5771 and for H5921 your abominations H8441 .

|
32. Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord God, Alex. be it known to you as it is known to you: be ye ashamed and confounded for your ways, O house of Israel.
|

33. Thus saith the Lord God; In the day wherein I shall cleanse you from all your iniquities I will also cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste places shall be built upon:
|
33. Thus H3541 saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD H3069 ; In the day H3117 that I shall have cleansed H2891 you from all H4480 H3605 your iniquities H5771 I will also cause you to dwell H3427 H853 in the cities H5892 , and the wastes H2723 shall be built H1129 .

34. and the desolate land shall be cultivated, whereas it was desolate in the eyes of every one that passed by.
|

|
|
35. And they shall say, That desolate land is become like a garden of delight; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are Lit. have sat inhabited.

35. And they shall say H559 , This H1977 land H776 that was desolate H8074 is become H1961 like the garden H1588 of Eden H5731 ; and the waste H2720 and desolate H8074 and ruined H2040 cities H5892 are become fenced H1219 , and are inhabited H3427 .
|
|
36. And the nations, as many as shall have been left round about you, shall know that I the Lord have built the ruined cities and planted the waste lands: I the Lord have spoken, and will do it.
|
36. Then the heathen H1471 that H834 are left H7604 round about H5439 you shall know H3045 that H3588 I H589 the LORD H3068 build H1129 the ruined H2040 places, and plant H5193 that that was desolate H8074 : I H589 the LORD H3068 have spoken H1696 it , and I will do H6213 it .

37. Thus saith the Lord God; Yet Possibly, this time for this will I be sought by the house of Israel, to establish them; I will multiply them even men as sheep;
|

38. as holy sheep, as the sheep of Jerusalem in her feasts; thus shall the desert cities be full of flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the Lord.
|
