1. And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the fifth month, on the fifth day of the month, I was sitting in the house, and the elders of Juda were sitting before me: and the hand of the Lord came upon me.

2. And I looked, and, behold, the likeness of a man: from his loins and downwards there was fire, and from his loins Gr. above him upwards there was as the appearance of amber.

And he stretched forth the likeness of a hand, and took me by the crown of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between the earth and sky, and brought me to Jerusalem in a vision of God, to the porch of the Heb. and Alex. inner gate gate that looks to the north, where was the pillar of the Heb. ambiguous Purchaser.

4. And, behold, the glory of the Lord God of Israel was there, according to the vision which I saw in the plain.

6. And he said to me, Son of man, hast thou seen what these do? They commit great abominations here so that I should keep away from my sanctuary: and thou shalt see yet greater iniquities.

7. And he brought me to the porch of the court.

8. And he said to me, Son of man, dig: so I dug, and behold a door.

9. And he said to me, Go in, and behold the iniquities which they practise here.

10. So I went in and looked; and beheld vain abominations, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed upon Alex. autou them round about.

11. And seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel, and Jechonias the son of Saphan stood in their presence in the midst of them, and each one held his censer in his hand; and the smoke of the incense went up.

12. And he said to me, Thou hast seen, son of man, what the elders of the house of Israel do, each one of them in their secret chamber: because they have said, The Lord see not; The Lord has forsaken the earth.

13. And he said to me, Thou shalt see yet greater iniquities which these do.

13. He said H559 also unto H413 me , Turn thee yet again H7725 H5750 , and thou shalt see H7200 greater H1419 abominations H8441 that H834 they H1992 do H6213 .

14. And he brought me in to the porch of the house of the Lord that looks to the north; and, behold there were women sitting there lamenting for Thammuz.

15. And he said to me, Son of man, thou hast seen; but thou shalt yet see evil practices greater then these.

16. And he brought me into the inner court of the house of the Lord, and at the entrance of the temple of the Lord, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty men, with their back parts toward the temple of the Lord, and their faces turned the Heb. ambiguous opposite way; and these were worshipping the sun.

And he brought H935 me into H413 the inner H6442 court H2691 of the LORD H3068 's house H1004 , and, behold H2009 , at the door H6607 of the temple H1964 of the LORD H3068 , between H996 the porch H197 and the altar H4196 , were about five H2568 and twenty H6242 men H376 , with their backs H268 toward H413 the temple H1964 of the LORD H3068 , and their faces H6440 toward the east H6924 ; and they H1992 worshiped H7812 the sun H8121 toward the east H6924 .

17. And he said to me, Son of man, thou hast seen this. Is it a little thing to the house of Juda to practise the iniquities which they have practised here? for they have filled the land with iniquity: and, behold, these are as scorners.

17. Then he said H559 unto H413 me , Hast thou seen H7200 this , O son H1121 of man H120 ? Is it a light thing H7043 to the house H1004 of Judah H3063 that they commit H4480 H6213 H853 the abominations H8441 which H834 they commit H6213 here H6311 ? for H3588 they have filled H4390 H853 the land H776 with violence H2555 , and have returned H7725 to provoke me to anger H3707 : and, lo H2009 , they put H7971 H853 the branch H2156 to H413 their nose H639 .

18. Therefore will I deal with them in wrath: mine eye shall not spare, nor will I have any mercy.

18. Therefore will I H589 also H1571 deal H6213 in fury H2534 : mine eye H5869 shall not H3808 spare H2347 , neither H3808 will I have pity H2550 : and though they cry H7121 in mine ears H241 with a loud H1419 voice H6963 , yet will I not H3808 hear H8085 them.
