1. And when the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land, into which thou goest to possess it, and shall remove great nations from before thee, the Chettite, and Gergesite, and Amorite, and Chananite, and Pherezite, and Evite, and Jebusite, seven nations more numerous and stronger than you,

When H3588 the LORD H3068 thy God H430 shall bring H935 thee into H413 the land H776 whither H834 H8033 thou H859 goest H935 to possess H3423 it , and hath cast out H5394 many H7227 nations H1471 before H4480 H6440 thee , the Hittites H2850 , and the Girgashites H1622 , and the Amorites H567 , and the Canaanites H3669 , and the Perizzites H6522 , and the Hivites H2340 , and the Jebusites H2983 , seven H7651 nations H1471 greater H7227 and mightier H6099 than H4480 thou;

2. and the Lord thy God shall deliver them into thy hands, then thou shalt smite them: thou shalt utterly destroy them: thou shalt not make a covenant with them, neither shall ye pity them:
|
2. And when the LORD H3068 thy God H430 shall deliver H5414 them before H6440 thee ; thou shalt smite H5221 them, and utterly destroy H2763 H2763 them ; thou shalt make H3772 no H3808 covenant H1285 with them, nor H3808 show mercy H2603 unto them:

3. neither shall ye contract marriages with them: thou shalt not give thy daughter to his son, and thou shalt not take his daughter to thy son.

3. Neither H3808 shalt thou make marriages H2859 with them ; thy daughter H1323 thou shalt not H3808 give H5414 unto his son H1121 , nor H3808 his daughter H1323 shalt thou take H3947 unto thy son H1121 .

4. For he will draw away thy son from me, and he will serve other gods; and the Lord will be very angry with you, and will soon utterly destroy thee.
|
4. For H3588 they will turn away H5493 H853 thy son H1121 from following H4480 H310 me , that they may serve H5647 other H312 gods H430 : so will the anger H639 of the LORD H3068 be kindled H2734 against you , and destroy H8045 thee suddenly H4118 .

5. But thus shall ye do to them; ye shall destroy their altars, and shall break down their pillars, and shall cut down their groves, and shall burn with fire the graven images of their gods.

5. But H3588 H518 thus H3541 shall ye deal H6213 with them ; ye shall destroy H5422 their altars H4196 , and break down H7665 their images H4676 , and cut down H1438 their groves H842 , and burn H8313 their graven images H6456 with fire H784 .

6. For thou art a holy people to the Lord thy God; and the Lord thy God chose thee to be to him a peculiar people beyond all nations that are upon the face of the earth.

7. It was not because ye are more numerous than all other nations that the Lord preferred you, and the Lord made choice of you: for ye are fewer in number than all other nations.
|
7. The LORD H3068 did not H3808 set his love H2836 upon you , nor choose H977 you , because ye were more in number H4480 H7230 than any H4480 H3605 people H5971 ; for H3588 ye H859 were the fewest H4592 of all H4480 H3605 people H5971 :

8. But because the Lord loved you, and as keeping the oath which he sware to your fathers, the Lord brought you out with a strong hand, and the Lord redeemed thee from the house of bondage, out of the hand of Pharao king of Egypt.

9. Thou shalt know therefore, that the Lord thy God, he is God, a faithful God, who keeps covenant and mercy for them that love him, and for those that keep his commandments to a thousand generations,

10. and who recompenses them that hate him to their face, to destroy them utterly; and will not be slack with them that hate him: he will recompense them to their face.

10. And repayeth H7999 them that hate H8130 him to H413 their face H6440 , to destroy H6 them : he will not H3808 be slack H309 to him that hateth H8130 him , he will repay H7999 him to H413 his face H6440 .

11. Thou shalt keep therefore the commands, and the ordinances, and these judgements, which I command thee this day to do.

12. And it shall come to pass when ye shall have heard these ordinances, and shall have kept and done them, that the Lord thy God shall keep for thee the covenant and the mercy, which he sware to your fathers.

13. And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee; and he will bless the off-spring of thy Gr. belly body, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the herds of thine oxen, and the flocks of thy sheep, on the land which the Lord sware to thy fathers to give to thee.

13. 14. Thou shalt be blessed beyond all nations; there shall not be among you an impotent or barren one, Gr. and or among thy cattle.
|
14. Thou shalt be H1961 blessed H1288 above all H4480 H3605 people H5971 : there shall not H3808 be H1961 male H6135 or female barren H6135 among you , or among your cattle H929 .
|
|
15. And the Lord thy God shall remove from thee all sickness; and none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou hast seen, and all that thou hast known, will he lay upon thee; but he will lay them upon all that hate thee.
|

16. And thou shalt eat all the spoils of the nations which the Lord thy God gives thee; thine eye shall not spare them, and thou shalt not serve their gods; for this is an offence to thee.

17. But if thou shouldest say in thine heart, This nation is Gr. more greater than I, how shall I be able to destroy them utterly?
|
17. If H3588 thou shalt say H559 in thine heart H3824 , These H428 nations H1471 are more H7227 than H4480 I; how H349 can H3201 I dispossess H3423 them?

|
18. thou shalt not fear them; thou shalt surely remember all that the Lord thy God did to Pharao and to all the Egyptians:
|
18. Thou shalt not H3808 be afraid H3372 of H4480 them: but shalt well remember H2142 H2142 H853 what H834 the LORD H3068 thy God H430 did H6213 unto Pharaoh H6547 , and unto all H3605 Egypt H4714 ;

|
19. the great temptations which thine eyes have seen, those signs and great wonders, the strong hand, and the high arm; how the Lord thy God brought thee forth: so the Lord your God will do to all the nations, whom thou fearest in their presence.
|
19. 20. And the Lord thy God shall send against them the hornets, until they that are left and they that are hidden from thee be utterly destroyed.
|
20. Moreover H1571 the LORD H3068 thy God H430 will send H7971 H853 the hornet H6880 among them, until H5704 they that are left H7604 , and hide themselves H5641 from H4480 H6440 thee , be destroyed H6 .

|
21. Thou shalt not be wounded before them, because the Lord thy God in the midst of thee is a great and powerful God.
|
21. Thou shalt not H3808 be frightened H6206 at H4480 H6440 them: for H3588 the LORD H3068 thy God H430 is among H7130 you , a mighty H1419 God H410 and terrible H3372 .

|
22. And the Lord thy God shall consume these nations before thee by little and little: thou shalt not be able to consume them speedily, lest the land become desert, and the wild beasts of the field be multiplied against thee.
|
22. And the LORD H3068 thy God H430 will put out H5394 H853 those H411 nations H1471 before H4480 H6440 thee by little H4592 and little H4592 : thou mayest H3201 not H3808 consume H3615 them at once H4118 , lest H6435 the beasts H2416 of the field H7704 increase H7235 upon H5921 thee.

23. And the Lord thy God shall deliver them into thy hands, and thou shalt destroy them with a great destruction, until ye shall have utterly destroyed them.

23. But the LORD H3068 thy God H430 shall deliver H5414 them unto H6440 thee , and shall destroy H1949 them with a mighty H1419 destruction H4103 , until H5704 they be destroyed H8045 .

|
24. And he shall deliver their kings into your hands, and ye shall destroy their name from that place; none shall stand up in opposition before thee, until thou shalt have utterly destroyed them.

25. Ye shall burn with fire the graven images of their gods: thou shalt not covet their silver, neither shalt thou take to thyself gold from them, lest thou shouldest offend thereby, because it is an abomination to the Lord thy God.
|
25. 26. And thou shalt not bring an abomination into thine house, so Gr. shalt shouldest thou be an accursed thing like it; thou shalt utterly hate it, and altogether abominate it, because it is an accursed thing.
|
26. Neither H3808 shalt thou bring H935 an abomination H8441 into H413 thine house H1004 , lest thou be H1961 a cursed thing H2764 like it H3644 : but thou shalt utterly detest H8262 H8262 it , and thou shalt utterly abhor H8581 H8581 it; for H3588 it H1931 is a cursed thing H2764 .
