2. Mountains, and you enduring foundations of the earth, hear the contention of Jehovah, for Jehovah has a quarrel with His people, and He will dispute with Israel.

2. Hear H8085 ye , O mountains H2022 , H853 the LORD H3068 's controversy H7379 , and ye strong H386 foundations H4146 of the earth H776 : for H3588 the LORD H3068 hath a controversy H7379 with H5973 his people H5971 , and he will plead H3198 with H5973 Israel H3478 .

3. My people, what have I done to you? And how have I made you weary? Answer against Me.

3. O my people H5971 , what H4100 have I done H6213 unto thee? and wherein H4100 have I wearied H3811 thee? testify H6030 against me.

4. For I brought you up out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you out of the house of slaves; and I sent Moses, Aaron, and Miriam before you.

5. My people, remember now what Balak, king of Moab, planned; and what Balaam, the son of Beor, answered him from Shittim to Gilgal, so that you may know the righteousnesses of Jehovah.

6. With what shall I come before Jehovah, to bow myself before the loftiness of God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves, sons of a year?

6. Wherewith H4100 shall I come before H6923 the LORD H3068 , and bow myself H3721 before the high H4791 God H430 ? shall I come before H6923 him with burnt offerings H5930 , with calves H5695 of a year H8141 old H1121 ?

7. Will Jehovah be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of torrents of oil? Shall I give my first-born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

7. Will the LORD H3068 be pleased H7521 with thousands H505 of rams H352 , or with ten thousands H7233 of rivers H5158 of oil H8081 ? shall I give H5414 my firstborn H1060 for my transgression H6588 , the fruit H6529 of my body H990 for the sin H2403 of my soul H5315 ?

8. O man, He has declared to you what is good. And what does Jehovah require of you, but to do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

8. He hath showed H5046 thee , O man H120 , what H4100 is good H2896 ; and what H4100 doth the LORD H3068 require H1875 of H4480 thee, but H3588 H518 to do H6213 justly H4941 , and to love H157 mercy H2617 , and to walk H1980 humbly H6800 with H5973 thy God H430 ?

9. The voice of Jehovah calls out to the city; and one of sound wisdom will see Your name. Hear the rod, and Him who appointed it.

10. Are there yet in the house of the wicked the treasures of wickedness, and a cursed ephah of leanness?

11. Shall I declare wicked balances to be pure, or a bag of stones of fraud?

11. Shall I count them pure H2135 with the wicked H7562 balances H3976 , and with the bag H3599 of deceitful H4820 weights H68 ?

|
12. For her rich ones are full of violence, and ones living in her speak a lie, and their tongue is deceit in their mouth.

12. For H834 the rich men H6223 thereof are full H4390 of violence H2555 , and the inhabitants H3427 thereof have spoken H1696 lies H8267 , and their tongue H3956 is deceitful H7423 in their mouth H6310 .

13. And I also have made you sick, to strike you, making you desolate because of your sins.

13. Therefore also H1571 will I H589 make thee sick H2470 in smiting H5221 thee , in making thee desolate H8074 because of H5921 thy sins H2403 .

14. You shall eat, but not be satisfied, and your sinking shall be in your midst; and you will move back, but shall not keep safe; and that which you keep safe, I will give to the sword.

15. You shall sow, but you shall not reap. You shall tread the olive, but you shall not anoint with oil; and new wine, but shall not drink wine.

16. And one has kept himself as to the statutes of Omri and all the works of the house of Ahab. And you walk in their counsels, so that I may give you for a horror, and ones living in her for a hissing. And you shall bear the shame of My people.
